Hire A Professional.

Reason #1: You Are Too Close To It

You will clearly come across like a salesman

Reason #2: You’re Not A Business Writer

Thus your release will come across as being formulaic and dull

Reason #3: You Might Hurt Yourself More Than Help

Since this isn’t your…forte, you may do things like call to "see if they got your release" (reporters hate that).

If you decide to power on anyway (which most of you strong-willed entrepreneurs do), at least keep a few things in mind:

1. You need to think like a reporter.

Okay, well, actually that’s it.

But here’s what that means:

• You have to separate the real news about your company from promotional fluff

• You must have a sharp story angle that’s actually of real interest to the public

• Do remember that a reporter’s objective is not to help you promote. So you have to keep in mind that the only way to get their attention is to say something interesting, give it to them in a form they can easily use, and make it easy for them to get more information if they want to.
